To become a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and partake of all the benefits of membership, one has to take certain membership vows. Anyone whom God is calling to join our church should consider taking these vows by which he or she covenants with God and the other members and takes on the obligation to participate in the ministry of the church. Some church’s have neither formal membership nor membership questions. We think this is not according to the design of the New Testament. Not only do Jesus (John 17) and Paul (1 Corinthians 12-14) speak the deep unity of believers and our functioning as various parts of a body of which the head is Christ, but established relationships with appointed elders is assumed throughout the New Testament epistles. For example, James in James 5 takes it for granted that a sick Christian would have particular elders in his church with whom he was formally connected and whom he could call and ask for prayer.

Below are listed our seven church membership questions. To join our church, one need not agree to every doctrine that our church affirms, but one must have a credible testimony of faith and be willing to commit to these seven vows. Consider them and come join us as we are building a church for Norman that is Biblical, Reformed, Conservative, Evangelistic, Confessional, Covenantal, Gospel-Centered, and Kingdom Centered. (1) Do you confess that you are a sinner in the sight of God; that you deserve His punishment; that you are unable to save yourself; and that you are without hope of salvation except for God’s love and mercy?

(2) Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of sinners; and do you receive and trust in Him alone for your salvation?

(3) Do you accept the Bible, comprised of the Old and New Testaments, as the written Word of God; and that it is the only perfect rule of faith and how to live?

(4) Do you promise to trust in the guidance and strength of the Holy Spirit so that you can live all of life as a Christian, following the example set by Jesus Christ?

(5) Do you promise to exercise faithful stewardship of God’s resources entrusted to you for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom and purposes?

(6) Do you accept that the doctrines and principles of the Standards of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church are founded upon the Scriptures?

(7) In loving obedience, do you submit yourself to the government and discipline of this church, promising to seek the peace, purity, and prosperity of this congregation as long as you are a member of it?
